Important things fist. Sadly I lost my phone with all my photos shortly after the trip and therefor can’t provide many. Fortunately, we live in the age of the internet and I can re-create the moments that are lost with stock photos.

Where to Stay
Tough question but there is an answer. The Marriott Mena House a hotel with an history dating back to 1869 and a direct view on the pyramids. When I am writing direct it is more a next to, you can take your breakfast or dine outside and look at them.

We visited Cairo in June and besides us there were an estimated 20 other guests in the hotel so it was very empty. Perfect, there are no better conditions for a weekend holiday. The reason for the absence of the guests remained unknown. I just learned that Ramadan had been and tourists avoid this time to visit Cairo.
Besides Relaxation
Obviously visited the Giza pyramids and the temples surrounding them. There is a small fee for visiting the sights and I would recommend to hire a local guide. Since we had just an extend weekend we planed for two more stops. The next stop was the Nile river and exploring the city by feet. Last we met with a local friend who showed us Cairo from a totally different angle. In the evening we were invited to his family and had dinner together.

It was a joy to see a wonder of the world and experience one of the largest cities in the world. If your are planning to visit Cairo let me know.
